Keys left without insurance option
Lawmakers scramble to solve problems with new law's windstorm restrictions

Monroe County officials estimate nearly 2,000 properties will be impacted by a state law that will soon restrict windstorm insurance coverage in the Florida Keys.

The law, S.B. 1770, was part of a larger insurance bill that was passed last session without Florida Keys Rep. Holly Raschein, R-Key Largo, and other government leaders realizing the full consequences.
