Jon Edward Threlkeld, 80, of Savannah, Tenn., formerly of Big Pine Key, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, in Savannah, Tenn. He was born on Oct. 10, 1933, in New York, N.Y., to the late James and Bernadine (Benfer) Threlkeld. Jon was a visiting resident of the Keys since 1947. He had purchased the Big Pine Fishing Lodge in 1967, and sold it in 1972. He was a local contractor on Big Pine Key in residential and commercial construction. His last construction project on Big Pine Key was Strike Zone Charters.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. Surviving is his wife, Kathleen Frances Threlkeld; sons Jon E. Threlkeld Jr. and Lawrence Threlkeld; daughters Cindy, Deborah, Laurie and spouses; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; and grandson Justin Threlkeld.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 31300 Overseas Highway. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Big Pine Key. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home Big Pine Key is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
