KEY LARGO -- The Miami-based Urban Health Institute will facilitate a focus group on the health impacts of climate change on Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Key Largo Library.
The hour-long session, to begin at 1 p.m., is a small piece of the four-county Regional Climate Action Plan process, in which Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties are participating. Upper Keys resident Mirine Dye will moderate.
Major areas of discussion will be the impact of sea level rise and heat waves on public health. Opinions voiced at the focus group will be put in a report to be presented to the Florida Public Health Institute, a nonprofit advocacy group. The institute will then use that info to inform their legislative policy agenda.
To sign up for the focus group, contact Dye at (305) 842-1800.
