Closer to Cuba than Miami, Key West once enjoyed far closer cultural ties with its southern neighbor than with the larger metropolis to the north. Even today, more than five decades since the imposition of U.S. travel and trade embargoes on Cuba, many Key Westers still feel a strong kinship with the citizens of that country.
