Review panel cancels meeting

The Citizen Review Board, a volunteer panel that reviews complaints of police misconduct, canceled its Monday meeting, the city calendar said.

Comprising members appointed by city commissioners, the board is set to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 at Old City Hall, 510 Greene St.

The board members are chairman Larry Beaver, vice chairman Michael Behrend, Virginia Altobello, Kevin Collins, Tom Milone, Joe Pais and Howard Magby. The city staff contact and clerk of the board is Sue Srch.


Eaton Street theatre planned

Plans to open a 150-seat dinner theatre at 512-524 Eaton St. landed at City Hall this month with an application for an alcohol sales special exception.

The city's Development Review Committee received and filed the application at is Dec. 20 meeting.

"Alcohol will be served when food is available," wrote private planner Owen Trepanier on behalf of Tapley O. Johnson III, of the company Tap All Potential. Detailed plans are attached to the agenda item on the city's website,


New photo club forming

Visions of Nature Photography Club is forming next year. It is sponsored by the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuges and Friends and Volunteers of Refuges (FAVOR).

The group is open to all nature enthusiasts who are also interested in nature photography. "We hope to have beginners wanting to learn as well as experienced photographers interested in sharing their expertise," organizers said. An introductory meeting is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the National Key Deer Refuge Visitor Center in the Winn-Dixie plaza on Big Pine Key.
