Gill net ban overturned in Oct.
Sanctuary seeking input for updating of its management plan

Shock waves reverberated throughout the state in October when a north Florida judge overturned a nearly two-decades-old gill net ban.

The ban prohibits fishermen from dragging gill and entanglement nets in state waters of more than 500 square feet and with mesh that stretched is less than 2 inches.

This tops the list of environmental stories of 2013.
