DAVID ALLEN VINSON
September 4, 1949 - December 30, 2013
A sincere, loving and gentle man whom everyone liked. The best conch on our island. From the Truman (Division) school through Memorial Jr. High, he graduated from Key West High School class of 1968.
He was preceded in finding peace by his father Valter A. Vinson, Jr., his abuela Blanch Garcia, his abuelo Candido Garica, his paternal grandparents Josephine and Valter Vinson, Sr.
He was in the Air Force and served our country in Vietnam earning the Air Force Commendation Metal for meritorious service. Over the years he worked with his family at the Flying Saucer and Eddie's Luncheonette. He lived in Michigan for 32 years and owned his own Salons before returning to Key West to be with old friends and family.
He is survived by his mother, Onelia (Nellie) Vinson; his sister Cindy Dean; his life partner of 40 years Robert Silver; his nephews Jeffrey Dean, Jr. and wife Elena Dean; his nephew Robert Dean; his loving aunt Clara Rivas of Jensen Beach, his aunt Ann Lazarus; close cousins Chomi and Rachael Oropeza and his musical cousin Sabrina Alfonos; his artistic cousin Sal Salinero and Jeff Birn.
Many thanks go out to Dr. Bruce Boros and son Jeremy, the VNA Hospice, Kim and Heather of Island Home Care. Caring thanks go out to the staff of Bella Hair Studio (Jim, Priscilla, Romi and Kim). He will truly be greatly missed. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
