KEY WEST

Schooner Hindu hosts classic regatta

Classic boat enthusiasts can participate in races of tall ships, schooners and other venerable vessels, and enjoy a boat parade and boat tours during the Key West Classic Regatta set for Jan. 27 through Feb. 2.

Historic, replica and modern wooden vessels from the Chesapeake Bay, Florida's west coast and the Florida Keys will compete in daily races and associated challenges.

Sailing aficionados can experience the action on participating vessels for $75 per person. The price includes a bag lunch, regatta T-shirt and admission to evening awards receptions.

Following each day's racing, evening awards events will take place at Schooner Wharf and Dante's in the Historic Seaport.

Anwards party is to take place Saturday at Dante's at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased until Thursday, Jan. 30. For information, visit keywestclassicregatta.com or call 305-509-1771.

Jewelry-making classes

Artists in Paradise gallery on Big Pine Key is now offering jewelry-making classes from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays.

Jewelry designer Maritza Cresce teaches a variety of styles using an assortment of metals and materials.

Learn to make earrings, necklaces and more. The fee is $30 per class and includes materials.

Register for lodging banquet

Registration is now open for the Lodging Association's Annual Awards Banquet to be held Feb. 7 at the Little White House in Key West.

The yearly banquet gives The Lodging Association of the Florida Keys and Key West a chance to recognize both lodging properties and individuals, as well as associate members and community leaders for their contributions to the Keys tourism industry.

The evening celebrates excellence in the industry.
