Jose Alonso, 79, left us on December 26, 2013, with his family by his side in Key West, Florida.

Jose was born on April 14, 1934, in Havana, Cuba to Jose Antonio Alonso and Concepcion Rodriguez. His father was a business owner in Cuba. His mother was a homemaker. They moved to Cuba from Spain in 1912.

Jose came from Cuba in 1980 along with his surviving wife Rosalina Alonso and son Dr. Jose Luis Alonso and spent the rest of his life in Key West.

Jose became very successful in Key West where he owned his own business of yard maintenance and landscaping.

He was an active member of the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital and religiously donated monies to their children with cancer.

Mr. Alonso is survived by his wife, Rosalina Alonso, son Dr. Jose L. Alonso and Jose Luis Alonso Jr. and Tabitha Jade Alonso, grandchildren.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the repose of the soul of Jose Alonso on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Mass with Rev. John C. Baker, The Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea, 1010 Windsor Lane, Key West.
