Volunteers keep police horses on patrol
Key West's Mounted Unit has plenty for volunteers to do

It's noon on a crisp Thursday morning, and Tonja Wadsworth is engaged in one of her favorite pursuits: horseback riding. Today Wadsworth is taking police horse Chief through an obstacle course, which helps to desensitize the animals so they learn to ignore distractions on the street. For this reason the course is strewn with flares, flashing lights, and a tarpaulin on the ground to simulate rub...
