SEVEN MILE BRIDGE

Bridge closed from crash

A GMC Sierra pick-up truck clipped a Volkswagon that had broken down and stopped on the side of the Seven Mile Bridge at Mile Marker 40.5 at 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The impact caused the Volkswagon to spin and partially roll over on its side while a tire from the truck hit another car, causing a wreck that closed both lanes of travel on the bridge until 2:15 p.m., said Lt. Kathy McKinney.

There were no serious injuries reported.

The crash caused traffic to back up six miles in both directions of U.S. 1.

Good is expected to be extradited to the Keys. Reports containing details of the attack were not released.

SUNSET KEY

Burglary reported

A Sunset Key resident reported to police Friday that a burglar raided his home of a $15,000 Chanel watch and a $450 Burberry scarf sometime between Dec. 24 and Jan. 17.

The 51 year-old man said he does not lock his doors.

Officer Michael Malgrat checked with a local pawn shop but found no information about the white porcelain watch, which had been kept in a sock drawer.

The incident was classified as both a burglary and felony grand theft.
