Monroe County Tax Collector Howard E. Wilson reported that the county had a 12 percent increase in the number of automobiles registered. There were 16,770 license plates sold for 1964.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawkins fishing with Captain Harry Snow Jr. fishing out of Big Pine hooked 25 bonefish of which they landed and released 14.
