The sky looks like 'black velvet covered with stars'

Motorists traversing U.S. 1 just north of Big Pine Key can expect an out-of-the-ordinary activity around Mile Marker 35 as some 600 astronomers, both professional and amateur, converge on Scout Key.

For the past 30 years, The Southern Cross Astronomical Society has hosted celestial enthusiasts in a most unique environment, the warm and balmy Florida Keys.
