Stuart T. Atwood, Jr., passed peacefully at his home Thursday, February 27, 2014. He was born December 19, 1927, in Dahlonega, Ga., to Stuart and Grace Atwood. "Capt. Talley" moved his family to Key West in 1951 during the Pink Gold Rush. His boats were Bom Jesus, The White Seal, Miss Monroe County, Capt. Sleg, The Manboy, The Showdown, and The Nightstalker. Talley also had a passion for cars and raced the "J-1" at Stock Island Raceway.

Talley was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Paula Powell, and son, Dr. Steve Atwood. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dolores "Dee" Atwood; his children, Larry (Arlinda) Atwood, Talley Anne (Nick) Reeb, Scott Atwood, and Steve's wife, Barbara Atwood. His grandchildren are Carrie, Larry, and Patrick Atwood; Nickole (Abba) Devitt, Emmaly (Michael) Ramirez, and Nickolas Reeb. Great grandchildren are Katelyn and Ashton Devitt, and Hayden and Michael Jack Ramirez, III. Talley is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Stock Island Baptist Temple on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 4 p.m.
