Mariners honors Catani

Janet Catani, a Tavernier resident, recently received Mariners Hospital's Osprey Award for Outstanding Leadership.

The award is given to a Mariners Hospital leader who exhibits exceptional leadership in at least two of the following competencies: people, service, quality and safety, growth, finance and community.

As director of facilities management, Catani is responsible for plant operations, environmental services, biomedical engineering, safety, security and emergency management. Her colleagues nominated Catani for the award for her work in quality and safety, states a hospital press release.

The hospital excels during licensing and accrediting inspections as a result of Catani's supervision and attention to detail, according to those who nominated her. The agencies often ask for copies of her practices and standards to share as best practices with other organizations.
