KW annual report

City officials recently released the 2013 Key West Annual Report, which provides information and insight into the workings of all city government departments over the past year.

The report is now available on the city's website at keywestcity.com

This is the fifth year the report has been issued as an electronic version only, which reduces paper usage and saves taxpayer money, but a printed copy will be provided to anyone unable to access the electronic version.

Applications available for art grants

Applications are now available for the 2014 Anne McKee Artists Fund grants, which support the talents of Florida Keys artists, musicians and writers.

Grant monies are generated by the fund's annual fine art auction. Each year, the McKee Fund awards 10 to 20 $1,000 grants to assist local visual, performance and literary artists with specific projects are outlined in their grant applications.

Founded by longtime Key West resident and arts patron, Anne McKee, the not-for-profit fund has awarded more than $194,000 since its inception in 1994.

Grant applications are available online at MckeeFund.org and must be emailed back by 5 p.m. March 31. Applications are also available at the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, 1100 Simonton St., Key West, and Sugarloaf Lodge, 17001 Overseas Highway, Sugarloaf Key. Grant recipients will be notified on or before April 30.

'Good Morning America' coming

ABC's "Good Morning America," will broadcast live segments from the Florida Keys on Friday, and the public is invited to watch and possibly appear on the air.

Beginning at 7 a.m., meteorologist Ginger Zee will broadcast segments from Key West's Mallory Square featuring Florida Keys characters and activities. The national broadcast also will showcase a recorded segment about the Middle and Upper Keys. Howard Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band are among the scheduled guests.

The broadcast is being made possible as part of an integrated marketing program funded by the Monroe County Tourist Development Council that was developed between ABC and Tinsley Advertising, TDC's ad agency. The council's public relations agency, NewmanPR, has helped GMA producers with editorial content and broadcast logistics.
