A weather front that tore through the Keys this afternoon dropping heavy rains on the area stalled construction at the corner of North Roosevelt and Kennedy Drive of a traffic light foundation, according to Dean Walters, spokesman for FDOT.
The left turn ban from North Roosevelt Boulevard onto Kennedy Drive will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday so the work there can be completed.
FDOT anticipates greater than usual backups on inbound North Roosevelt Boulevard during this left turn restriction, so it recommends using Flagler or South Roosevelt whenever possible until the project is completed.
Also, the rain canceled classes as all Florida Keys Community College locations -- Key West Campus, Middle Keys Center and Upper Keys Center -- locations as of 3:30 p.m. today due to inclement weather.
The College is scheduled to reopen Friday for business as usual.
