Key West High event tonight

Key West High School will host a showcase, "Why Key West High?" from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. tonight.

The event will feature an opening presentation in the auditorium from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m., where the KWHS team will share information about the 2014-15 school year. Students and parents may tour the campus and learn about core and advanced placement courses, electives, athletics and activities.

The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden, 5210 College Road, will hold its monthly native plant sale from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. On sale will be more than 150 species of butterfly and bird-attracting plants propagated by the Garden's volunteers.

Ceremony honors Curtis Peters

The Florida Keys Outreach Coalition will hold a memorial service in honor of Curtis Peters, a Key West native who died Feb. 6 at age 63.

Peters, a Key West native, worked 15 years for FKOC, the Keyswide nonprofit that helps the homeless find housing.

The service is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at FKOC, 1618 Truesdale Court at Poinciana Plaza.

FKOC will dedicate a bench in Peters' name on the property where he worked. All are welcome.
