Price tag for park upgrade grows
Artificial turf is cheaper to maintain, the way to go, Gastesi says

The cost of a plan to upgrade Bernstein Park on Stock Island has grown substantially with the proposal of a community center and the possibility of placing artificial turf on the ball fields there.

The Monroe County Commission agreed last year to set aside $3.2 million for the project, and county staff had been working under that budget.
