John Passika, 76, of North Port, Fla. passed away March 11, 2014. He was born December 29, 1938 in the Ukraine. John moved to the United States in 1958. He was proud to serve in the US Army. John received a Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College in Manhattan, New York. He was a police officer in the New York Police Department. John and Marjorie moved to Big Pine Key and lived there 30 years moving to North Port in 2011. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing and coaching soccer for AYSO in Key West and Big Pine Key then Ass. Coach for Key West High Varsity and YMCA in Port Charlotte

John is greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie, daughter, Lena Rae Bertram of Big Pine Key, Fla,; sons, John Gregory Passika of Warner Robin, Ga., Walter Passika of Buffalo Valley, Tenn. and Steven J. Passika of Algood, Tenn. and granddaughter, Monica Rae Bertram of Orlando, Fla.

Celebration of his life will be held 12 p.m. (noon) Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Big Pine United Methodist Church, 280 Key Beer Blvd. Big Pine Key.
