A crowd of several hundred watched as a bridge at Duck Key was named in honor of former President Harry S. Truman.

A Keys woman was arrested in Punta Gorda on the charges of murder for hire as she offered a Key West man to kill the wife of her lover. The case was solved by brilliant police work by the Monroe County Sheriff's department and the Key West Police department.

The Bauer Dredging Company began work to dredge the main ships channel to 38-feet. The project took 10 months to complete.

County Commissioner Gerald Saunders cut the ribbon to signal to start of an Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Flagler Merchants Association.
