Equality Florida gala

Equality Florida will host a gala from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gardens Hotel, 526 Angela St.

Admission is free but guests are asked to make a donation and to RSVP by at, or call 813-870-3735. Sponsorships begin at $500.

Nadine Smith, chief executive officer of Equality Florida, will deliver a "state of the state" address. Drinks and a buffet will be available.


Fruit tree talk

Local gardener Jeff Stotts will discuss fruit trees at 1:30 p.m. April 3 at the final free lecture this season at the Key West Garden Club, at the West Martello Tower, 1100 Atlantic Blvd.

Stotts, a renowned expert on fruit trees, has worked for the city, the Key West Botanical Gardens and is currently creating the landscape at the Stock Island Village Marina. He also created the annual summer Fruit Festival event. For details, call 305-304-3092.


BurgerFi thief wanted

Someone made off with the green tricycle painted with the BurgerFi restaurant logo between last Thursday and Tuesday, police reported.

The trike is valued at $2,000, manager Dakota McManus told police.

The tricycle was swiped from the front courtyard of the restaurant, 221 Duval St., where it is kept but not locked up.

Police classifed the incident as a felony grand theft and gave McManus a case number.
