Sheriff commits to ramping up patrols
Removing derelict boats from shore a money pit for county

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay has offered his agency's services in the county's battle to rid the nearshore waters of derelict and abandon boats.

County officials have spent more than $500,000 in the past three years to remove derelict vessels -- money county commissioners argue could have been used for managed mooring fields, boat ramps and channel markers.
