KEY LARGO -- A local man hanged himself in public view from a tree outside his home on Easter, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Charles Andruski, 50, 1018 Lobster Lane, was observed by a neighbor April 20 throwing a rope around a tree limb in his yard, but that neighbor assumed he was setting up a swing and thought nothing more of it, reports say.
Andruski reportedly worked as a mechanic for an area watersports business.
When Andruski's wife arrived home from Fort Lauderdale with his stepchildren and 5-year-old son, she found his body hanging from the rope. Police arrived at about 8 p.m. and confirmed his death.
Andruski's wife said her husband had expressed suicidal thoughts and demonstrated depression for most of their six-year marriage. She told deputies he was an alcoholic and increased his consumption when she recently began discussing separation.
