Police seek attacker

An unidentified man attacked a woman in Old Town just after midnight Wednesday but ran off after she screamed for help, police said.

Key West police released a description of the suspect: a Hispanic male in his early to late 20s, between 5-feet-4-inches and 5-feet-6-inches tall and of medium build.

He spoke only Spanish, the woman said, and had earbuds hanging out of the top of his shirt.

He has dark hair cut short and a mole on his face and was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and shorts that were possibly khaki in color, said police spokeswoman Alyson Crean. The woman told officers she was walking on Olivia Street near Pohalski Lane when a man jumped out, grabbed her and pushed her against a parked vehicle.

After a struggle, she screamed for help and the man ran off, police said.

The woman reported the attack moments later, when an unmarked patrol car approached and stopped, Crean said.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 305-809-1015.

Anonymous tips may be made to Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys at 1-800-346-TIPS.

Tips leading to an arrest are eligible for a cash reward.
