• The Boat Bar Tavern, Rene Zarate manager, was located at 503 Duval St.

• The turnout for the Democratic primary was 75 percent and all but four of the races were seated without a run-off. The Democrat primary was the election for Monroe County as no Republican was entered in the general election.

Among the winners in the election were Joe Allen, tax assessor; John Spottswood, state senator; Berine C. Papy, state House of Representatives; Harry Harris, county commissioner; Harry Pritchard, county commissioner and Howard B. Wilson, Monroe County tax collector.

• A proposed ordinance by the city of Key West would require the building department to notify Old Island Restoration Foundation if a permit was applied for demolition of a building.

• The Florida Secretary of State's investigator reported that the Democratic primary election was "a very clean election."
