Utilities manager resigns after trash vote
Gewin's report recommended dropping Waste Management

The city's utilities manager tendered his resignation Wednesday, the morning after city commissioners rejected his report advising they hire a new trash hauler who he deemed the lowest bidder.

Instead, commissioners awarded the 7-year deal to current vendor Waste Management -- a move that will give the company $14 million more over the life of the $7.2 million yearly contrac...
