County should negotiate for a better haul out deal

Monroe County planned to keep an eye on the results of Key West's decision to hire Kessler Consulting to analyze and bid their solid waste contracts. Recently, county commissioners decided to extend the maximum contract terms from five to 10 years, and eliminate the requirement for competitive bidding in order to provide the county leverage in its negotiation with vendors.
