The 15th annual Armed Forces Day celebration, which included an open house, demonstrations and a 45-minute parade, was a success. The slogan was the same as past years "Power for Peace."

Charlie Spivak and his band played for the dance at the Officer's Navy Relief Ball held at the Naval Station Beach Patio.

Lee Cudy, fishing with Capt. Lefty Reagan on the charter boat Cay Sal, hooked a big amberjack and after a fight of four hours and 18 minutes had the fish cut into by a shark. The half left on the hook weighed 78 pounds, which was only a few pounds less than the world record on 20-pound test line.

Marine Corps Sergeant Major Francis Tomon was grand marshall for the 15th annual Armed Forces Day parade.
