Two Florida Keys-based businesses have been selected to participate in the upcoming Local Food Enterprise Summit being held May 31 in Miami and organized by the Financial Permaculture Institute. The institute's goal is to help business owners design regenerative business models that work for community resiliency. The goal is to create a zero waste economy that cares for the Earth, the people and distributes surplus of material, currency and knowledge in a fair and equitable manner.
Earth and Sea Farm, owned by Midge and Tom Jolly on Sugarloaf Key, provides naturally harvested sea sponge, sea salt, vegetable produce. Help Yourself on Fleming Street in Key West is an organic produce market and cafe. Both businesses are looking to expand their distribution while spreading the word about sustainable farming practices and organic foods.
