A 70-year-old Chattanooga, Tenn., woman died Sunday after a head-on crash at Mile Marker 34 on U.S. 1, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Virginia R. Gilbert was southbound when a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven northbound by Cynthia Vanderwilt, 56, of St. John, veered into the southbound lane and struck the 2006 Toyota Sienna driven by Gilbert, reports state.
Gilbert later died at Fishermen's Hospital. Vanderwilt was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami. A passenger in the Toyota, Rebecca R. Gilbert, 35, also of Chattanooga, Tenn., was also taken to Fishermen's Hospital in serious condition, reports state.
