Charles Clarence Thompson, age 66, passed away on May 27, 2014 in Dade County, Florida. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Key West.

Charles was a fourth generation conch and was born in Key West to Barbara and Clarence Thompson. He attended Harris School and went on to graduate from Key West High School, where he was a member of the band. Charles worked at Pritchard Funeral Home while in high school and joined the Air Force after graduation. Upon coming home from Vietnam, he returned to work at the funeral home and eventually made his way to New Orleans, where he ran a tavern until Hurricane Katrina hit and destroyed nearly everything. Charles returned to Florida and for the next few years went back and forth between New Orleans and South Florida. Charles was a member if DeMolay and went on to join the Masonic Lodge, of which he remained a member until his passing.

Charles is survived by his sister, Clare Mazzoli (Leo), nieces Jadene Wilson (Russell), Jolene Gunnell, Jennifrer Konstantinou (Nick), Lisa Connell (Andy), nephews Jon Mazzoli (Maureen), Joel Mazzoli (Nicole), four great nieces, six great nephews, seven grand nieces and a grand nephew. Charles also leaves behind many cousins in Key West and elsewhere. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jones Thompson and his father, Clarence V. Thompson.
