Keys officials: New plan for mainland storm shelter
Hurricane Season Begins

The dawn of hurricane season last year brought concerns Monroe County had no permanent Category 3 hurricane shelter on mainland Florida for Keys evacuees, but this year officials say a new safehaven has been found.

The E. Darwin Fuchs Pavilion located on the Miami-Dade County Fair and Expo grounds, 10901 S.W. 24 St., will serve Keys residents, according to an agreement hamm...
