White Street Pier upgrade
Guardrail is 'unsafe'

In July, construction crews will start replacing the guardrail and sidewalk at the end of the White Street Pier, a $292,000 project that will close the popular fishing and strolling spot for 10 weeks.

Years of exposure to saltwater and other marine elements have taken a toll on the 700 feet of guardrail around the "Compass Rose" end of the pier, city staff said.
