Hale Thomas Bryson, Jr., 61, of Key West, Fla., passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of Freida Brown Bryson of Shelby, NC and the late Hale T. Bryson, Sr.

He was a graduate of Shelby High School and UNC, Chapel Hill. His greatest love was fishing, all around the world, and his dogs, 'Max' and 'Calhoon.'

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lynn "Linus" Sawyer Bryson; a daughter, Vanessa Bryson of Lowell, Maine; a sister, Jane Blake and husband Gary of Shelby; a brother, Jim Bryson and wife Benita of Charlotte; step-daughters, Holli Roberts and Vicky Flynn of Key West; and their children, Alexys Bess and Bailye Flynn; and several nieces and nephews. Tommy leaves behind many friends around the world, and was loyal to each and every one of them to the end. He will now be eternally happy fishing with the angels.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
