Lois Jane Wilson Specht, 91, formerly of Key West and Kissimmee, and most recently at Oak Hammock in Gainesville, Fla., passed away Friday, May 23, 2014. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and was the beloved wife for 64 years to the late LCDR Julius C. "Bud" Specht. She spent most of her life in Key West lovingly raising her family.

She is survived by her daughters: Linda House, Gainesville, Fla., Karen (Mitch) McGee, Monroe, Ga., Donna (Ed) Specht-Rariden, Houston, Texas, and Judy (Michael) Wurts, Andover, Mass.; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Lois was a member of Old Stone United Methodist Church. She was a member of several organizations (serving as president) including: The Jr. Women's and Women's Clubs, Retired Officers Wives, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also an assistant Girl Scout leader. She loved square dancing and was a member of: Nautical Wheelers (KWest), Kissimmee Squares, Wagon Wheels (St. Cloud), and Penn Shores (Erie, Pa.). She enjoyed horses, dogs, bridge, boating, knitting/crocheting, and traveling.

Lois was known for her positive outlook and generosity. She will be dearly missed my many.

A memorial service was held at Oak Hammock on May 27. In her memory, donations may be made to Easter Seals, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or The American Heart and Lung Associations or American Cancer Society. Please visit her memorial page @
