$10K grant provides food

Wesley House Family Services will receive the $10,000 it requested from the United Way to provide needy children with food for the weekends, the nonprofit reported Monday.

The grant is for the Inez Martin Child Development Center's Nutritional Backpack For Kids program, which sends cereal, juice boxes, fruit cups, meat and pasta home with students for their families.

Beth Barrett, CEO of Wesley House said, "We're so grateful to the United Way for continuing to recognize the need and value of serving disadvantaged, sometimes malnourished children in the Florida Keys."
