Cruise ship wants to dock

The Bight Management Board will consider a request to allow overnight dockage of a 40-cabin, 177-foot ship vessel that makes day tours from Marco Island to Key West.

The Key West Escape Vessel, which can hold at least 80 passengers, is asking for a 5- to 10-year contract, and is offering the city a $5 per head disembarkation fee for each roundtrip, plus $30 per foot per month to dock, according to a letter from company president Jeff McDonald.

The board meets at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Old City Hall. City commissioners have the final say on such a contract.
