ARNOLD PAGE

Arnold Page went to be with the Lord on June 29th, 2014.

He was born on May 9th, 1923 and was a fifth generation Conch and lived in Key West until he retired and moved to Winter Haven, Fla. Arnold's parents were the late John and Beaulah Page and he celebrated his 91st Birthday on May 9th, 2014.

As an early teen he went to work for the family Lumley and Roberts Benjamin Moore Paint and Hardware Store for over 30 years and was a master paint specialist, having received the prestigious Benjamin Moore High Paint Award in the mid-sixties for his expertise in color matching. He then opened with his sister, the late Ruth Page Farmer, Benjamin Moore's Paint, known as Pages Paint, on White Street in Key West. His nephew, Barry Pierce, later joined the corporation and ultimately bought out his uncle's share when Arnold retired to Winter Haven.

Arnold remained single for the first part of his life until he married the love of his life, the late Faye Johnson Solomon, and they enjoyed over 20 happy years together until her death 20 years ago.

He was not only a skilled craftsman in the areas of paint and hardware but an expert in construction, which included his building of a home for his twin aunts in Love Land in Key West. He single-handedly built the house, with no help, from the foundation to the roof, including all the electrical, plumbing, cabinetry and finish work.

He enjoyed many years of fishing and picnicking as well as playing dominos, owning and operating a laundromat and was a real taskmaster in the art of making "Original True Cuban Bollos," a secret he learned from his good friend, the late Celio Diaz, and one that he passed on to his nephew Richard "Rick" Pierce, who makes them to this very day.

He was a member of the Elk's Lodge 551 in Key West and served as the fraternal organization's highest position of Exaulted Ruler and was a lifetime member of the lodge.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Beaulah Page, his sister Ruth Page Farmer and a brother Jack Page, wife Faye Page and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.

He is survived by his loving family including nephew Richard A. "Rick" Pierce (Jeannie), nephew John Barry Pierce (Anton), niece Lori Salter (Lew), great-nieces Terri Boukater (George) and Lauren Salter, great-nephew Troy Pierce, great-great-nephew Colby Cherry, great-great-niece Katie Jean Pierce, son and daughter-in-laws Millard and Louise Solomon, daughter-in-law Betty Solomon Manning and numerous grandchildren, cousins and a host of friends including Dr. William "Bill" Ploss.

A celebration and memorial of his life will be announced and take place at a later date and at his request.

He will be interred in the Glenn Abbey Memorial Gardens in Winter Haven, Fla.

Memories can be shared with the family at rijean@dnet.net.

Locklin Funeral Home of Winter Haven is in charge of all arrangements.
