50 YEARS AGO

The Key West Chamber of Commerce officially opened the Fish Museum. The museum had a display of more than 70 mounted fish.

Key West reached an out-of-court settlement with Willard Johnson, who suffered serious injuries when his car was hit by a fire truck June 30, 1962. The settlement was for $5,000.

Twenty-five Cuban refugees were brought in by the U.S. Coast Guard after they were saved from two small boats.

County Solicitor Allan B. Cleare Jr. was conducting his own investigation of the holdup of the armor car by the former policeman Sam Cagnina.
