Coast Guard rescue

Three people were rescued from a 23-foot boat off Islamorada Wednesday morning after they began taking on water, according to the Coast Guard.

The boaters launched a flare at 2:30 a.m. that attracted a good Samaritan, said Lt. Peter Bermont. Coast Guard Station Islamorada launched a response boat. The Coast Guard and good Samaritan helped the boaters quell the flooding while a private company towed the boat to Black Point Marina, Bermont said.

There were no reported injuries.
