Drones spark controversy
FAA looks at 2 local companies

Just a few years ago, Monroe County Airports Director Peter Horton's biggest encroachment issue was the occasional stray bird flying in and out of the runway area at Key West International Airport.

However, a rise in the use of unmanned aircraft systems, commonly referred to as drones, has become an emerging problem for Key West airport and others.
