Orchid Mira, 73 passed away unexpectedly at Lower Keys Hospital on July 9, 2014. Orchid was born in Tampa Fla., but lived the majority of her life in Key West. Some may remember her from the Casa Marina and the Banyan Resort, where she once worked.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gabriel and Zoila Mira. She is survived by her husband, (Always and Forever) Salvatore "Sonny" Pizzulo, the father of her three children, Raymond Morales Sr. , her half-brother Roy Mira, her uncle Ignacio Bode and cousin Kenneth Roja. Orchid had three children, Raymond Morales, Jr. (Shauna), Mark Morales Sr. and daughter, Michelle Morales, who Orchid affectionately called Mimi. And a godchild, Cindy Spencer (Robert).
She had six grandchildren, Veronica, Ray III, Gabriel, Monique, Mark Jr. and Meghan. Three great grandchildren, Bella, Jayden and Hailey with another grandson on the way.
She also leaves behind so many friends. To name a few, Walter Frank, Vincent Mancini, Ted DeRochi and the entire Pizzulo family. Girlfriends, Cilia, Olga, Barbara, Bonnie, and Lina. A special thanks to her neighbors Donny, Kim and Jim. And her very close friend, Omar.
Orchid was as beautiful as the flower she was named after. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Dean Lopez Funeral Home at 418 Simonton St. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Services will begin at 5 p.m. Orchid's final resting place will be at the Key West Cemetery in her Mother's vault the following morning with immediate family only.
