Cynthia Leigh Peterson

After a valiant 11 year battle with breast cancer, Cindy passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2014.

She was born in Durand, Wis. April 12, 1950 and was preceded in death by her mother and father, Verena and William Komro, her sister Dorothy Forsythe, and brother Ric Komro.

She will be missed dearly by those she left behind. She is survived by her husband, Michael Peterson of Little Torch Key, Fla., son Jeremy Peterson of Marathon, Fla., daughter and son-in-law Tanya and Richard Darden of Charleston, S.C., and her six grandchildren Abigail and Isabelle Peterson, Allen, John, Shelby, and Richard Darden. She is also survived by an extensive family of Lorraine Komro, sister Pat Prissel and brothers Don Komro and Joe Renneke, Bill and Pat Komro, Jack and Carole Komro, Jerry Komro, and Jim and Millie Komro as well as her many friends from her times in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Texas and the Florida Keys.

She leaves the family business of Overseas Outfitters in the hands of Mike, Jeremy, Porter and Max. After cremation, her ashes will be spread locally in a private family service. A visitation with the family is being hosted by Cindy's colleagues of the Business and Professional Women Federation of Florida on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Overseas Outfitters, 1700 Overseas Highway in Marathon, Fla. A Celebration of Cindy's Life will be held in Wisconsin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a BPW Memorial for an adult education scholarship being established in Cindy's name (donations can be sent to BPW Marathon, P.O.
