50 YEARS AGO:

A Cuban refugee boat arrived at Plantation Key with 10 men, three whom were wounded. There was a fight with the Cuban militia off the coast where a refugee and a militia man were killed and their bodies dumped into the sea.

Rev. Thomas W. Obenauer was the new minster at the Fleming Street Methodist Church.

Don Brassington, chairman of the Monroe County Advertising Commission, reported on the achievement of the commission.

Private Richard L. Milord completed the electronic equipment repair course at Fort Gordon, Ga. He was a graduate of Key West High School.
