Kayaks raise $25K for Mote

The Key West-based conservation group Keys Keeper and Dragonfly Kayaks have raised $25,000 for Mote Marine Laboratory by raffling off two fishing kayaks painted by world-renowned artist Robert Wyland.

The Dragonfly fishing kayaks were purchased by the father-daughter team of Bill and Stephanie Saunders of Big Coppitt Key. The package included two custom Dragonfly paddleboards, Yeti coolers, paddles, LED lighting system, anchor, trailer and autographed custom Wyland graphics.

The money raised will go toward Mote's coral restoration work in the Keys.

Mote has a coral nursery and a coral colony receiver site near Looe Key Reef off Big Pine Key.
