Schools look at 'good news budget'
Lower tax rate; higher tax bill

The rate school-funding tax rate on Monroe County real estate is decreasing, but local property owners likely will see an increase in the actual amount of their tax bills, due to rising property values in the Keys.

Jim Drake, the district's executive director of finance and performance, will announce the tax rate and proposed budget changes at a special meeting of the school...
