Barron Stringham, 61, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.

In the early 1990's he moved to Key West with his daughter Jessica.

He loved to spend time on the beautiful waters of the Florida Keys; boating, scuba diving, and paddle boarding. Barron also enjoyed riding his Harley around Key West.

After moving to the Keys, he and his family owned and operated the Tides Inn Liquor store on Flagler Ave. Later he began his career in HVAC. This created the opportunity of a lifetime for Barron at the U.S. Naval Research Lab Center for Corrosion Science and Engineering where he worked for the last 15 years.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Corey Perloff of Winchester, VA; grandsons, Malik and Ethan; son, BJ Gray of Culpepper, VA; sister, Debbie Woodward; brothers; Lee and Robert Stringham; nieces, Kristina Engelsberg, Leslie White, and Leslie Woodward; nephews, Robert Stringham Jr., Brian Stringham, and Adam Stringham; a special thank you to Diane, Matt, Cheryl and the rest of Barron's NRL family for all their support.

A memorial service in celebration of Barron's life is planned for 4 p.m. tomorrow, Monday, July 28 at Castillo and Thurston's Key West Mortuary, 328 Truman Ave., Key West.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys.
