UPPER KEYS
Outage lasted 10 minutes

An electrical fault within the Florida Keys Electric Co-operative (FKEC) service area (north of the Seven-Mile Bridge) triggered an "under-voltage event" that knocked 14 Keys Energy electrical feeders offline at 4:03 p.m. Sunday, affecting 11,000 KEYS customers.

Upon detecting a dip in voltage levels, the Keys Energy system automatically sheds load for self preservation. All affected electrical feeders were restored by 4:14 p.m., reported KEYS spokesman Julio Torrado. Crews from FKEC in the Upper Keys were investigating Sunday evening what triggered the fault that knocked KEYS feeders offline, Torrado said.
