50 YEARS AGO:

• Supporters of Stock Island incorporation called for a grand jury probe into the sale of land by a developer so the new owners could vote in the referendum.

• Special donations to John Elliott Blood Bank were set up for three boys, ages 2 to 6, who were hemophiliac.

• The Florida Cabinet said it had ownership of the spoil area west of Fort Taylor while the Navy said its files showed otherwise.

• Dade Lodge No. 14 F. and A.M. honored its 21 surviving past masters during a special ceremony at the Scottish Rite Temple. The lodge, founded in 1844, is the oldest in South Florida.
